The most important person in any startup is:
The Rainmaker…
Without a rainmaker on the startup team, the future of the whole company is in complete jeopardy.
Who is a ‘rainmaker’?
Simple:
It’s the person who brings in the new deals.
The person who brings in the new funding.
The person who can bring big whale clients.
The person who can connect with movers and shakers, and make things happen.
Coders are cool. But they’ll be unemployed quick if nobody buys the software.
Management is magnificent, but without someone bringing in the deals, they’ll be quick out the door.
Designers are dope, but if there are no clients, they’ll be painting houses by next summer.
And so on, and on, and on.
Without someone making sales, closing deals, building relationships, getting access to resources, and operating the world for the benefit of the startup…
The startup is basically an orphan lost at sea, just waiting for its time to come so it dies and gets forgotten forever.
A corpse at the bottom of the ocean.
That’s the most important person that every startup team should make sure they have and that they keep at all costs.
That’s the difference between the winners and the losers:
Having an effective Rainmaker.
