The Lagos State Government through the office of the Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat announced the Support for businesses looted during the #EndSars Protest and Curfew few days ago, which is been supervised by the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund, LSETF.
In an interview on AriseTv with the Executive Secretary of the LSETF, Teju Abisoye, support for businesses looted during the #EndSars protest and curfew is been funded by government in conjunction with private institutions like Access bank, Polaris bank, etc. So far, over 1.5 billion naira has been raised towards this support.
According to the Executive Secretary; “The fact that you have filed a claim doesn’t mean that automatically you are entitled to the amount you are requesting for. We will evaluate every claim using the Business Development Support Partners (BDSP) and Independent private sector partner as well, who will go to the field and come back with the report of each claims.
The amount that will be disbursed to affected businesses will be what is approved by the BDSPs”.
“We will also make everything transparent as there will be a dashboard where you can see the inflows and outflows, said Teju.
We are also looking forward to more partners who will help with raising this funds to support the lots of businesses that have been affected.
The committees including Fate foundation and Wimbiz are also part of the process to ensure there is transparency and accountability in disbursement of claims to beneficiary”.
So far over 2,200 applications have been received.
For those that have not applied for this, should do so quickly as the application portal will be shutting down by Friday, 30th of October, 2020.
