The increased rate of unemployment, bad infrastructures and poor governance in Nigeria has foster citizens to going the extra mile in developing their own economy.
In Nigeria, you virtually have to provide your own electricity, provide your own water, drive on bad roads which results in regular, if not daily maintenance of your car, basic amenities are provided by the individual citizens, as if that is not enough, security is now a bane to be contended with.
The average Nigerian has found a future on the internet since its evolution and expansion in Africa.
There are now more legal business opportunities you can do online and make legal money; as a matter of fact, we are fast leaving the industrial age and going/already gone into the technology era.
The richest man in the world right now, according to Forbes made it via internet business.
But back here in Nigeria, your involvement in anything online simply means you are a Fraud and into fraudulent activities.
Cut that crap!
There are tons and tons of legit businesses that are been done online ranging from eCommerce, Affiliate marketing, Forex trading, Blogging, Website/graphics designing, to mention a few.
These businesses are capable of giving you a luxury lifestyle once you are dedicated and consistent in it. It was from blogging Linda Ikeji was able to buy her mansion that is currently worth almost a billion naira. It was through Affiliate Marketing people like Precious Ngwu, Victory Akpos, Ifiok, had built millions of dollar businesses and living that good life. Was it not via eCommerce/Mini Importation the likes of Patrick Ogidi, Olaide Alim, etc have used to create wealth for not just themselves only, but also for many of their followers.
These are legit businesses our youths are taking advantage of in this high rate jobless state of the country, but then they still get harassed, detained, extorted and as if that is not enough, get killed by the so called Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS.
It is imperative to alert this sect of the police force – SARS that it is not everyone with a Laptop that is into fraudulent activities called ‘yahoo-yahoo’; not everyone with a smartphone is a scammer or not everyone that drives in good car is dubious.
While we are not ruling out the fact that there are youths that are involved into these fraudulent acts, it is more than important to note that a great number of Nigerian youths are into Legit Online Businesses.
By the way, it is not even the question of what the Nigerian Youth is into anymore, BUT the call on the series of extortion, bullying, and killings of the Nigerian youths by the so-called SARS, irrespective of what the youths are into.
We are therefore using this medium in line with the ongoing peaceful protest #EndSARsBrutality, to call on the attention of the authorities both locally and internationally to put an end to these brutalities and menace as it is not only bringing tears to the citizens, but also retarding the economic growth in Africa.
