SMEDAN sets for Repositioning soon

The new management at the nation’s small and medium enterprises, SME, authorities, the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria, SMEDAN, appears set for a major shake-up in the operations of the agency.
An indication to this effect has been given by the newly appointed Director General of the agency, Dr. Dikko Umaru Radda, in his remarks.
Giving reasons for the shake-up Radda told the Governor of Katsina State, Aminu Bello Masari, who was on official visit to him, that from the little briefings he has received from the top management of the agency so far ‘‘it’s like there are  few challenges, the major mandate of the agency has not been actualized’’.
He then said that after these briefings, he will gather experts on SMEs to guide him on the way forward.
Radda had briefed the Governor on the mandate, vision and mission of the agency adding that the new management under his leadership will do everything possible to focus on its core mandate.
The visiting Governor had also urged Radda to reposition the agency so as to impact positively on the SME sub sector of the economy.
He tasked the agency to seek more effective collaboration with other agencies of government that shares similar mandates in the pursuit of its objectives, vision and programmes.
He also advocated that women empowerment must be taken seriously adding that most women are micro entrepreneurs.
