Don’t go starting out with a big office space and all the paparazzi without having strategic growth plan and learning from experience, hence it’s great you start small.

Now let’s look at some of the businesses you can kick-start with little or no capital, and when I say “little or no”, I mean it, I’ve done some before and currently doing some.

  1. Starting a Blog or Vlog

Think blogging is no longer a viable source of income? Think again. Tens of thousands of bloggers are creating content on topics as diverse as cooking, fashion, gossip, news, travel, film, and lifestyle. Starting a blog/vlog with a particular niche and focusing on a particular set of individuals is a lucrative business idea with great potentials.

Your first step is sharpening your writing and speaking (if it’s a vlog) abilities, understanding what your audience craves and learning how to write a blog post that drives traffic and brings your readers on a regular basis.

2. Drop Shipping

This type of business can be started without any investment! All you need to do is to sell goods that you do not have. Yes, exactly. Drop-shipping is a direct delivery from the supplier to the customer. You act as an intermediary who collects orders from customers and transfer them to the supplier. The supplier sends the purchases directly to customers on your behalf. In the end, you earn the difference between the supplier’s price and the price at which you sold the product to the customer – simple!

3. Social Media/Influencer Marketing

Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube, Twitter and Facebook are social media platforms that have turned some people into multi-millionaire. The likes of Laura Ikeji, Lasisi Elenu, Tunde Ednut, Maraji, to mention a few has made and are still making good income being an influencer on social media.

Nigerians are making a load of cash just by sharing engaging contents and building a loyal followers list. This is a business idea you also need to venture into if you are crazy about social media.

Build up a following on any of this platform and you could quickly be approached by major brands, and other relevant businesses that sell products or services related to the type of content you share. If you have hundreds of thousands of followers, you can easily charge anywhere between 15,000 – 50,000 Naira per post or more—which makes for a very profitable side business idea.

An apiary with hives in which bees will collect their honey is required. Really clean honey can be produced.
